Somalia: Government soldiers unveil veiled teen girls and tortured

A Somali mother living in Suq Bocle a section of Dharkenley who has stated her name as Hawo only said that three of her own daughters were tortured and badly dealt with by forces from the Somali transitional federal government on their way back from a Koranic school in the environ.

“After my daughters have come out from the Koranic school nad coming towards home one of the slippers of one of the girls unfortunately broke, and the other two attempted to help her mend, but unfortunately all their efforts and skills were wastage and went towards the market were they knew there was a cobbler who fixes shoes and other related things, and immediately they reached at the cobbler’s point they were caught by soldiers registered in the Somali government soldiers who accused them of carrying explosive things, the soldiers took my daughters with them separated them apart and detained them in three different rooms they ordered the girls to remove their veils and yashmaks, but the girls remained adamant and in this matter they used force and removed the girls veils and yashmaks out of their faces after sometime when they seen that these girls were innocent they set free” said mother Hawo the mother of the three girls.

The mother also added that the soldier did not violate the private parts of the girls, but whipped them. The mother also said that she felt bad of this barbaric acts carried by Somali government soldiers.

The three girls are now under the weather and their mother is respectfully requesting from the government to do something about this awful event.
