In fact the rain was so heavy that it rained cats and dogs, and has hampered the movements of people and public service vehicles.
The inhabitants of the above mentioned regions remained indoors for the entire day from dawn to dusk.
This rain has claimed the lives of several people mostly the destitute people who are scattered along Mogadishu Afgoi road.
These people are those people who driven from their abodes by the frequent attacks between the insurgents who are sturdily against the presence of the Ethiopian troops and the politics of the Somali transitional government.
The death toll has gradually been increasing high; so far 4 people were reported to have been killed by the stormy pouring rain along the road which links Mogadishu to Afgoi district which is 30KM from the capital 3 were toddlers and an elderly mother who has died because of the chilly weather.
Likewise 4 others have deceased in Mogadishu 2 died after a wall they were taking cover from the severe cold and rain collapsed on them a deformed man also died in Hodan district and an elderly grandpa died in a camp in Bulahubey near Djibouti primary school.
In the coastal town Marka the headquarters of the lower shabelle region a flood of Mud gushed down the valley towards Marka town and has caused mass damages at El-Bashirow and Bulabacad sections and the entire houses in the area were swept away by the heavy floods.
In Bulabacad an elderly blind was drown in the flood after the her sentinel dashed for his life, and in Buala Marer and Kuntwari locations tow male farmers have also lost their lives due to the downpour. A person in Bula Marer location has confirmed that this rain has annihilated almost 500 houses mostly made of grass and thatch.
This rain has also at large devastated the entire roads which link in the region, and this will be for sure hinder WFP food supply in the region.
The octogenarians in the region said that they have not seen such rain in for quit sometime.
Despite the mass devastation left by the rain on the other hand the farmers are much appreciating it for the have not been expecting to rain.
