“Our opponents violated the peace deal in Djibouti” says president Yussuf

Muqdisho Tuesday, September 02 2008 SMC

The Somali president Abdullahi Yussuf Ahmed has criticized the government adversaries for violating the truce they have signed in Djibouti on the 9th of June 2008.

The president said on their side the have observed whatever was signed in Djibouti with total care and consideration.

“One of the most siginificant points in the Djibouti conference was the ceasefire of which I can see now is violated by our fellow opponents, who their ally on the ground are carrying out almost everyday raids to government bases” said president Yussuf.

One of the major issues which the president mentioned in his speech was the capture of the southern strategic seaport town of Kismayu in the lower Juba region of Somalia.

On the other hand president Yussuf has urged the Somali parliamentarians to involve in the settlement of the minor rift between the Somali top officials, and not to create disorder in parliament.

However this statement of president Yussuf coincides with time when the Somali government opponents took control of Kismayu town.

Somalia has been with out strong central government for the past two decades.
