Somalia: Islamic Courts Union different perspective from Al-Shabab
Mogadishu Monday, September 15 2008 SMC
The armed Islamic Courts Union which is lively in Somalia particularly in Mogadishu has absolutely opposed the idea of Al-Shabab the former military wing of the Islamic Courts Union which is also operative in Somalia.
The Al-Shabab group has vowed on Saturday that it will shut down Mogadishu international airport as from Tuesday, and the Islamic Courts Union has sturdily opposed this concept of Al-Shabab.
“The airport serves the interest of everybody, and we know it is dominated by our enemies but we are not in anyway threatening to close the airport or target a passenger’s plane flying overhead the Islamic Courts Union is free from the discussion reached by our fellow brothers” said the operation commander of the Islamic Courts Union Abdirahin Isse Adow.
Shiekh Adow also added that the airport is one of the most significant places for the Somali population, and needs to be respected.
“The Somalis in the Diaspora are willing to return to their motherland, and invest their capital home rather than any other place, or perhaps pay a visit to their next of kin, and where they have to land and takeoff from is merely Adan Ade international airport, some also want to takeoff from the airport to perform one of the strongest pillars in Islam Hajja or even go for Ummrah, that is not only what the airport does for the Somali people, there are some ill people who there cases are unsuccessful in the country and need to be flown to any other part of the world, so therefore the only passage all these groups of people have to use is the airport” added Sheikh Abdirahin Isse Adow the operation commander of the Islamic Courts Union.
The Shiekh also urged his fellow brothers to think trice over this issue, and retreat from it.
On the other hand the Islamic Courts Union condemned the organized killings of the famous people in community such as the Islamic scholars, the traders and the intellectuals.
The sheikh urged the Somali population to feel mercy for one another for seek of this sacred month of Ramadan.
