Somalia: : The first passenger plane in Mogadishu international airport
Mogadishu Thursday, October 09 2008 SMC

A plane wobbling with passengers has the first time landed at Adan Ade international airport since the Islamic movement of Al-Shabab has officially announced that the international airport is closed.
It was on Tuesday 16th of September when the Islamic movement of Al-Shabab announced that the airport is inoperative after having known that it serves the interest of the infidels on the ground. |
This plane is Boeing 747 plane and belongs to Juba airways one of the local companies in Somali and it was piled with Somali deportees from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, it has safely landed at the airport, and has taken off safely the city dwellers were jubilated to see the first plane after 22 days.
Yet there are no comments coming out from the officials of the plane which dared to land at the airport despite the Al-Shababa has not announced that it is opened.
The situation of the airport and the surrounding neighborhoods was unlike the other times whereby when a plane landed the sounds of weapons could be heard echoing in the entire city.
Planes delivering consignment to the AMISOM peacekeeping troops were routinely landing and taking off from Mogadishu international airport despite the shutting down announced by Al-Shabab movement and Islamic faction which operates in Somali particularly south and central.
The arrival of this local plane coincides at time when the spokesman of Al-Shabab has informed the local media that there will be talks which will be held regarding about the closure of the airport.
Since the Islamic movement of Al-Shabab has announced that the airport is closed more than 100 innocent Somali civilians were killed and more than that number were wounded in an exchange of mortars between Al-Shabab forces and the joint AMISOM and Somali troops.
