Two journalists who were kidnapped in the war conflict country Somalia, some 15 months ago have on Wednesday night gained back their freedom from their captors.

The Journalists Amanda Lindhout, a Canadian freelance reporter, and Nigel Brennan, a freelance Australian photojournalist, arrived in Mogadishu early August 2008, and booked themselves at Shamo hotel which is one of the luxuries hotels in Mogadishu.

“The government of Somalia has done all sorts efforts to release the two journalists, and in the day it has achieved its goal, and now the two journalists are safely in our hands, and in the coming days they will be joining their families” said Ahmed Diriye a legislator in the Somali parliament who has played a key role in the release of the two journalist. 

The kidnappers did not allow Neil the freelance journalist to shave his beard, and by the time he was set free his beard was so long.

In the morning of Thursday the two journalists were escorted to Adan Ade international airport by armed security men and some officials from the Somali government.

A special plane from the Kenyan capital Nairobi has taken the two journalists to Nairobi.
