Somalia: Reuters should correct its erroneous against us says Al-Shabab

Mogadishu Friday 22 January 2010 SMC

An armed Islamist faction in Somalia which significantly opposes the existence of the Somali transitional federal government and the presence of the African Union troops in the Somali capital Mogadishu, has categorically proved wrong that they have threatened to attack
Kenya which is one of the immediate neighbours of Somalia, and at the same time holding thousands of Somalis who have fled from their country due to the frequent clashes between the Somali troops gaining strength from the African Union troops (Uganda and Burundi) and the armed Islamists.

“Reuters has came up with news from its own pocket and published it there is no one time we have said that we shall be attacking Kenya, I don’t actually know where Reuters has obtained the source that we are intending to attack Kenya, the media should always be free from exaggerations and biasness and whatever its reporting should be based on fact and reality” says a spokesman for Al-Shabab.

The news which Reuters has published was in a Website called Al-Qimmah, and Al-Shabab has said that they have no relation with that Website.

The BBC Somali Service has just picked the news from Reuters and aired it, without knowing how far it is perfectly true. Somaliweyn English News Desk.
