Somalia: Somali Community in Birmingham change their status to Danish

Nairobi Saturday 16 January 2010 SMC

A segment of the Somali community in Birmingham the second capital city of the United Kingdom has changed its Somali national status to Danish.

The Somali population has been rapidly increasing in some countries in the overseas such as Europe, America, Australia and UK is one of the countries in Europe where Somalis have been pouring into after the collapse of the last effective central government of Somali led by late dictator Mohammed Siyad Barre in the year 1991.

Birmingham city is one of the cities in the United Kingdom where Somalis reside in their hundreds and thousands and itself alone holds more than 40,000 Somalis.

The most amazing point in this issue is that Somalis in everywhere in the universe are proud to expose their being of Somalis, but very unfortunately there is a class of Somalis who have migrated from the Netherlands who have changed their status of Somalis to Dutch Community in Birmingham, and raised the Dutch National Flag in their places of residence and offices.

This issue leaves a question mark on the brains of many Somalis, although the leaders of the so called Dutch Community claim that the Somali people are problematic community and want to isolate themselves from the Somalis, and take the name Dutch Community since they have initially migrated from the Netherlands.
