Mayor of Mogadishu Meets with Mayor of Switzerland Capital.

Bern:-Mayor of Mogadishu, who is also the governor of Banadir Region, honorable Abdirahman Omar Osman (Eng.Yarisow ), has visited the Headquarters of the Local Government Of Bern, the Capital City of Switzerland.

The mayor of the Capital city of Switzeland, Honorable Alec Von Graffenried, who has welcomed the mayor of Mogadishu to his office, has talked about the importance of consolidating the relations between the two cities, Mogadishu and Bern, while briefing the Somali Community living in Switzerland.

On his side, the mayor of Mogadishu has thanked his counterpart, the mayor of Bern, for warmly receiving and accommodating him together with his delegates, during their official visit to Switzerland,where they are attending the UN Conference meant for Refugees and Internally Displaced people.

Eng. Yarisow has briefed the Local Government`s Administration of the Capital City of Switzerland on the on-going developments of Banadir Region, the challenges and the plans to upgrade the quality of the employees of the Local Government of Hamar, while asking his counterpart to pass on their experience and work-related capacity, regarding environmental conservation, the beauty of the city, facilitation of means of transport, construction of roads as well as maintenance of proper sanitary measures, to the capital city of Somalia.

The two mayors have reached a common understanding on all the points they discussed and have agreed to perpetuate the cooperation between the two Local Governments of their administrations, Hamar and Bern. On his side, Eng. Yarisow has officially handed over an invitation letter to his counterpart, Honorable Alec Von, to visit Mogadishu of which he accepted thereafter.

AMISOM strongly condemns simultaneous bomb attacks in Mogadishu

Mogadishu–The African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) has strongly condemned the simultaneous bomb attacks, which occurred last night and today morning in Mogadishu.

The three attacks by Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (VBIED) targeted civilians and security forces, in the busy central business district, causing fatalities.

“These senseless, heinous attacks by Al-Shabaab will not change the course of progress happening in Somalia,” Ambassador Madeira, the AU Special Representative for Somalia said.

On behalf of AMISOM, Ambassador Madeira condoles with families of those killed in the attacks and wishes those injured a quick recovery.
